Roof's Up!

They have installed the roof today. There is still a bit of bricking to go. One wall at the front, the completion of the garage wall and then the trimmings around the windows.

Sorry about the picture quality of these ones, a storm was coming and didn't have time to get the decent camera!

Delay over!

Bricking started last Thursday. Should be done by the end of this week. It looked like some of the colorbond was delivered today. A roof soon perhaps?

We heard from the builder last night that there has been some trouble organising a bricky to start on the walls. Steve did say that he has locked in a bricky to start next week. So there won't be much happening this week. It also sounds like it won't make it to lockup stage by Christmas either which is a bit disappointing. But a roof should be installed by then. At least it will look somewhat like a house!

A electricity cable was laid from the power box on the South-East corner to the house of Friday.

Here are some addition photos below that show other aspects of the house while we wait for the next stage. Enjoy.

The bricks - colours don't look quite right, they are actually a tad richer in colour.

Roof trusses up

The roof trusses are now attached to the frame, so it is starting to look more like a house. Still not sure when the bricks will begin to be laid, but we hope to see some movement soon. It has been very hot over the past week with no relief in sight, so we may see little progress for the time being.

Brief Update

Over the weekend the bricks where delivered. There are crates of bricks every couple of metres or so around the house. Steve suggested that they will start laying them some time this week.

They also delivered the pre built roof trusses on Monday. Some installation started on Tuesday but only a couple of parts. This morning on the way to work we saw the carpenters installing the remainder of them. Perhaps they might be all done by the end of today? Heres hoping!

The main water tank might start at the end of the week too.

Hopefully some new images will be up later today!

We have been framed!!!!

Again we are amazed at what they can do in just a few hours.
Reports from the father, who spied during the day, say that the roof trusses will go up on Wednesday and the Bricky will start tomorrow!

The water tank will be delivered on Wednesday afternoon too. Much to be done still!

On Friday afternoon we noticed a delivery truck with wooden frames at the block. We now have the frames and the windows at the block ready to go for Monday. We will post pictures of the frame going up this week coming!

Slab anyone???

Today they laid the slab!

Here it is in all its glory. Should be inspected tomorrow and then cured on Wednesday. Once they are complete Builder Steve advised the next step is the frame.

Its going up quickly!

Your waffle is served

We have the preparations for a waffle slab all laid out, and it looks like it will be covered in concrete this week (tomorrow we hope)

Pipes

The trenches have been dug, the pipes laid and inspected, next step is the footings for the foundation. The slab should be laid sometime shortly. It may even be as soon as this week if the weather holds, but the forecast is predicting rain.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photo!

More dirt!!!!!!

The cut and fill began early this morning, we arrived on site to find the bull dozer in action. Today we also met our site manager, Builder Steve. We now have two piles of dirt on the block and a muddy trail on the road from our block to the exit of Merryville estate. It rained all afternoon, and with more rain predicted for this week, it may be a while between this post and the next. Here's hoping the block doesn't become a swamp
.

Half a driveway!

Big dirt, little person - oh and half a driveway. They have removed the top soil and only laid the first couple of truck loads of road base. They say they will complete it in the next week or so.

One plain and empty block

This will hopefully be the beginning of a series of photos from the North-West corner of the block. They are Swaynes Golden trees, the right was planted in spring 08 just after we bought the land. The 2nd was planted in spring 09. They are both roughly 40cm tall.

Step one

Above is a skewed plan of our house design. It looks lovely, and we can't wait to invite you all over for a cuppa!

We will try to update this blog with photos regularly. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed, especially to our family and friends - we really appreciate your support (and the accommodation/ holiday spots)

And in the beginning there was... a loo

You know the builders are serious about starting when they drop off the porta loo!

We now have half a driveway (we are assured that it will be completed sometime soon), and a nice big pile of dirt for the dogs to check out.
