Your waffle is served

We have the preparations for a waffle slab all laid out, and it looks like it will be covered in concrete this week (tomorrow we hope)

Pipes

The trenches have been dug, the pipes laid and inspected, next step is the footings for the foundation. The slab should be laid sometime shortly. It may even be as soon as this week if the weather holds, but the forecast is predicting rain.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photo!

More dirt!!!!!!

The cut and fill began early this morning, we arrived on site to find the bull dozer in action. Today we also met our site manager, Builder Steve. We now have two piles of dirt on the block and a muddy trail on the road from our block to the exit of Merryville estate. It rained all afternoon, and with more rain predicted for this week, it may be a while between this post and the next. Here's hoping the block doesn't become a swamp
.

Half a driveway!

Big dirt, little person - oh and half a driveway. They have removed the top soil and only laid the first couple of truck loads of road base. They say they will complete it in the next week or so.

One plain and empty block

This will hopefully be the beginning of a series of photos from the North-West corner of the block. They are Swaynes Golden trees, the right was planted in spring 08 just after we bought the land. The 2nd was planted in spring 09. They are both roughly 40cm tall.

Step one

Above is a skewed plan of our house design. It looks lovely, and we can't wait to invite you all over for a cuppa!

We will try to update this blog with photos regularly. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed, especially to our family and friends - we really appreciate your support (and the accommodation/ holiday spots)

And in the beginning there was... a loo

You know the builders are serious about starting when they drop off the porta loo!

We now have half a driveway (we are assured that it will be completed sometime soon), and a nice big pile of dirt for the dogs to check out.
